Killis Almond, FAIA

Killis Almond, FAIA has been in private practice since 1978 and actively involved in theater restoration and consulting since 1981. Mr. Almond continues to be involved in theater consulting and is a past president of the League of Historic American Theaters. He has served as professional consultant and architect on over eighty separate theater projects and has produced master plans and user studies on over half of these.

Mr. Almond has been a six-year member on the Texas Historical Commission Board of Review. He is past chair of the Friends of the Texas Historical Commission and a past member and chairman of the Texas Society of Architects Historic Resources Committee. He is a frequent lecturer and has served as a Main Street Resource Team member for eleven cities.

Mr. Almond has recieved numerous awards for the high quality of his restoration work including; the Texas Historical Commission’s Award for Excellence in Historic Architecture for the restoration of the Paramount Theater in Abilene, Texas and the Old Main Building at Blinn College in Brenham, Texas. He has personally received the Texas Award for the Preservation of Historic Architecture. In 2009, he was awarded the Outstanding Individual Contribution Award from the League of Historic American Theaters (LHAT).

In 1999 Mr. Almond was named a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects for his significant contribution to historic preservation design work in the architectural profession.
